AB Svenska Järnvägsverkstädernas Aeroplanavdelning (Swedish Railroad Workshops' Air Plane Department, ASJA) was a company making aircraft in Linköping, Sweden. ==History==
The company was started as a subsidiary company of ASJ (''AB Svenska Järnvägsverkstäderna'', Swedish Railway Workshops Co)). The company was started in the 1930s headed by Sven Blomberg, earlier designer at Svenska Aero. In 1932 ASJA bought Svenska Aero from Carl Clemens Bücker. During 1936 ASJA entered talks with Bofors about creating a common company for design and manufacturing of aircraft. In January 1937 they agreed to share the stock between them 50-50 and on March 31, 1937 they formed AB Förenade Flygverkstäder (AFF). The co-operation within AFF didn't work out so in March 1939 it was decided Svenska Aeroplan AB (SAAB) would be reformed and take over ASJA.
